What is Digital Health ID? Health id is part of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission to improve health services in India, it is very important that the medical services of the villages should be improved.

Today, the network related to primary health care is being strengthened near the village and home. So far 80,000 such centers have been made operational. Now work is going on in India on such a health model, which is holistic, inclusive.

What is Digital Health ID?

Digital Health ID is part of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, Health ID is a randomly generated 14 digit number used for the purposes of uniquely identifying persons, authenticating them, and threading their health records (only with their informed consent) across multiple systems and stakeholders.

Indian Citizens who wish to participate in ABDM and have their health records available digitally must start by creating a Health ID.

What is the purpose of health ID?

A Health ID will give you complete ownership over your health history. Using a Health ID is the first step towards creating safer and efficient digital health records for you and your family.

You can opt-in to create a digitally secure Health ID, which allows you to access and share your health data with your consent, with participating healthcare providers and payers.

Your Health ID is a hassle-free method of accessing and sharing your health records digitally. It enables your interaction with participating healthcare providers and allows you to receive your digital lab reports, prescriptions, and diagnoses seamlessly from verified healthcare professionals and health service providers. ​

How do I create a health ID?

You can easily create a health ID by registering on the Official Health ID web portal or go to (https://healthid.ndhm.gov.in/register). You need a Mobile Number or Aadhar Card to Create a Health ID.

Also, You can register your Health ID by download the Mobile application from the Google Playstore. You may also request for creation of your Health ID at a participating health facility, which may include public/private hospitals, community health centers, health, and wellness centers across India.

Is Aadhaar mandatory to create a Health ID ?

The answer is No. Aadhar is not mandatory for health ID, it’s up to you. If you do not want to use your Aadhaar for Health ID creation, you can simply use your Mobile Number accompanied with self-declared information.

Is my Health ID unique?

By using your basic details including your phone number or Aadhar card number you will get a unique Health ID Number. And you will have the option to link all your health records to the Health ID.

You can also create multiple IDs to link different sets of health records with different Health IDs, however, it is not recommended that you create multiple health IDs. We suggest you create only one Health ID because it makes easy for you to understand your health situation.

Do I have to submit any physical documents?

No, the Enrolment of Health ID is paperless and hassle-free, As part of the existing process, you are not required to submit any physical documents anywhere. ABDM will soon be rolling out a feature to support Health ID creation in low resource settings in a paper-based manner.

However, the scope of the said process may be restricted only to the delivery of government health benefit schemes.

Are my health records safe and secure?

According to government sources, ABDM does not store any of your health records. Your health records are only stored with healthcare information providers as per their retention policies and are shared over the ABDM network with encryption mechanisms only after your permission.

Who can issue the health ID?

Official govt portals, Public Hospitals, Community Health Centers, Health and Wellness Centers, and any other healthcare providers that are part of the National Health Infrastructure Registry can assist you in generating your Health ID Card.

What do I do if I forget my password?

You can easily log in to your Health ID through Mobile OTP or Aadhaar linked Mobile OTP, just click forget the password, you’ll get OTP. Enter OTP and set a new password.

I have entered the incorrect password 3 times, and I am unable to login now?

If you failed three consecutive incorrect attempts at a time, then you have been locked out of your Health ID for 12 hours.

You will try authentication method (Password/ Mobile OTP/ Aadhaar OTP) gets disabled for 12 hours) on three consecutive incorrect attempts at a time.

In this case, you can use the remaining methods to Login, as applicable. However, you will not be able to login for 12 hours after you have been locked out from all three methods of login

Can I delete my Health ID?

ABDM now supports a feature that enables any participating user to opt out of the ABDM ecosystem. On availing of the feature, a user can permanently delete or temporarily deactivate their Health ID.

In case of deactivation, a user can later choose to reactivate their Health ID. On deletion, your Health ID will be permanently deleted, along with all your demographic details. You will not be able to retrieve any information tagged to your Health ID in the future.

You will never be able to access ABDM applications or any health records over the ABDM network with your deleted Health ID.

On deactivation, you will lose access to all ABDM applications for the period of deactivation. Until you reactivate your Health ID, you will not be able to share your Health ID at any health facility or share your health records over the ABDM network.
