Gulf News, December 8: The Saudi embassy in Paris called on the French authorities to release a citizen immediately, stressing that he had absolutely no connection with the Jamal Khashoggi case.
In a statement, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, “In reference to what was circulated in the media about the arrest of a Saudi citizen suspected of the case of citizen Jamal Khashoggi – may God have mercy on him – the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Republic of France would like to clarify that what was circulated is incorrect. And that whoever was arrested has nothing to do with the case in question, and therefore the Kingdom’s embassy calls for his immediate release.
They also added, “The embassy would also like to confirm that the Saudi judiciary has taken verdicts against all those who were proven to have participated in the case of the citizen Jamal Khashoggi – may God have mercy on him – and they are currently serving their prescribed sentences.”
