Minutes later, the police department said the incident was not an active shooter and they believed it was an isolated shooting that left one person dead. It’s unclear whether the shots fired were self-inflicted. No further details were immediately available.
The man was dead from a self-inflicted wound when police arrived, White Settlement Police Chief Christopher Cook said during a press conference.
The man, who was in his 60s, was trying to gain entry into the facility before security challenged him and he pulled out a handgun, Cook said.
Police are unclear about who the individual was, but are looking into possibility that he was an employee or former employee, Cook said.
The man will be identified by the medical examiner’s office.
