Nearly two weeks after the head-on accident on Tolar Road in Garland, officials say suspect Jeremy Spencer is out on bond.
The 30-year-old is facing drunken murder and two other charges. It is not uncommon for a DWI suspect to post a bond.
Court records show that Spencer had a previous DWI charge since 2020.
“It makes me so angry, I’m trying to keep calm and move on with my daughter,” David said.
David, his wife and family members get ready to bury their daughter and all they have are memories of what’s left.
“She was always the life of the party,” said David.
Brooklyn’s football team called her “Mighty,” and the medals in her room show how dedicated she was.
“She was full of life. A bright light,” said David.
Before the burial, fellow Brooklynites will gather in Louisville for a special memorial.
Many football teams in the area will be writing handwritten letters to Governor Greg Abbott and local lawmakers about tougher laws when it comes to drinking and driving. The coach of the football team said that the girls are devastated by the loss of one of their best friends.
“I’m going to put him in his coffin tomorrow. Sixty letters … All I find are going there with him. My Savior right now is through Christ. He’s showing me the way,” said David.
